Research is one of the most important aspects of progressing your Sanctuary in Last Asylum. Continuously researching new technologies significantly increases your Sanctuary’s overall strength and efficiency.

There are many research categories in the game, including Development, Economy, Heroes, Soldiers, Alliance Duel, Elite Troops, and more. Each technology provides permanent bonuses that improve different aspects of your account.

However, deciding which technologies to prioritize can be challenging, especially for new players. This guide explains the best research order to maximize your Sanctuary’s progression.

1. Development Technologies (Highest Priority)

Development Technologies should always be your first priority because they directly increase the speed of your overall progression.

These technologies improve essential aspects such as:

  • Building Speed
  • Research Speed
  • Training Speed
  • Resource Production
  • Healing Speed

Among these, Research Speed is especially valuable because it shortens the time required to unlock every other technology in the game. Likewise, Building Speed allows your Sanctuary to develop much faster, while Training Speed helps you build your army more efficiently—particularly important for free-to-play (F2P) players.

Recommendation

Focus on reaching the final tier of the Development tree as quickly as possible. Only upgrade technologies like Healing Speed to the minimum level required to unlock the next tier, then continue progressing toward the end of the tree.

Development Technologies should be fully prioritized before any other research category.

2. Alliance Duel Technologies

Alliance Duel is one of the game’s most important recurring events. It runs almost continuously throughout the week (except on weekends), meaning you’ll constantly earn rewards simply by participating.

The event rewards valuable resources such as:

  • Study Scrolls
  • UR Omni Hero Shards
  • Various upgrade materials

Alliance Duel Technologies greatly increase the number of points you earn while completing event tasks. This benefits both you and your alliance by increasing your contribution and helping unlock higher reward tiers.

Recommendation

After completing Development Technologies, make Alliance Duel Technologies your second priority. The increased event rewards will accelerate your long-term account growth.

3. Hero Technologies

Hero Technologies permanently increase your heroes’ combat statistics, including:

  • ATK
  • DEF
  • HP

Since heroes are the core of every formation, improving these stats greatly increases your overall combat strength in both PvE and PvP.

Recommendation

Only invest heavily in technologies that benefit the heroes you actually use.

For example:

  • If your main team consists of Warrior heroes, prioritize Warrior Technologies.
  • Avoid investing heavily in Ranger or Warlock Technologies unless required to unlock the next research tier.

Only upgrade unrelated technologies when they are necessary for progression.

4. Soldier Technologies

Soldier Technologies improve the statistics of the troops in your formation by increasing:

  • HP
  • ATK
  • DEF

These upgrades significantly improve your overall lineup strength, especially for F2P players who rely more heavily on troop power.

Once your Hero Technologies are in a good position, begin investing in Soldier Technologies to strengthen your army.

5. Squad 1 Technologies

Squad 1 Technologies provide bonuses to your entire primary formation.

Since most players use Squad 1 as their main combat lineup, these technologies increase the effectiveness of every hero and soldier assigned to that squad.

Recommendation

Hero Technologies, Soldier Technologies, and Squad 1 Technologies can be prioritized based on your playstyle.

Some players prefer to maximize Squad 1 first because it buffs the entire formation, while others focus on Hero and Soldier Technologies first. Either approach is effective.

6. Elite Troops Technologies

Elite Troops Technologies provide some of the largest combat bonuses available in the Research Center. They improve both hero and soldier performance significantly.

However, these technologies require a major long-term investment because they consume not only regular resources but also Study Scrolls, which are relatively scarce.

Since Study Scrolls are also required for Alliance Duel Technologies, investing in Elite Troops too early can slow your overall progression.

Elite Troops research is also required to unlock Tier 10 Soldiers in your Barracks.

Recommendation

For most players—especially F2P players—Elite Troops should be your final major research priority. Focus on them after completing your Development, Alliance Duel, Hero, Soldier, and Squad 1 Technologies.
